(Lesson 2582)(01-16-19) Luke 17:1-4
“Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.”
In today’s quote, Jesus warned against harming “these little ones”. Although that phrase would have most certainly applied to Children, I am convinced that the phrase was also referring to all the followers of Jesus.
In the latter part of the quote, Jesus gave instructions as to how the children of God are to handle problems between our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are to forgive every offense against us so long as the the one who committed the offense recognizes his/her mistake and asks for that forgiveness.~
