"And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say."
Today's quote tells us that whenever we are challenged by those who would oppress us because of our belief and faith in Jesus Christ, we are to rely totally upon the Holy Spirit for our defense.
We need not worry about what we will say, the Holy Spirit will provide us with the words to defend ourselves.
I don't believe, however, that the assurance in today's lesson excuses those who refuse to study the word of God. We are clearly commanded to continually study so as to keep our sword of knowledge sharp for the occasions when we are required to use it to defend our faith.
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)~
