(Lesson 3619)(12-01-21) Acts 4:1-4
“And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.”
Today’s quote tells us how the Jewish hierarchy were angered by the apostles. So much so that they were taken and held overnight.
This part of the narrative of the events that occurred on that day of Pentecost further confirms the impossibility of those twelve apostles having provided water baptism to three thousand souls. There simply wasn’t enough time.
Therefore the baptism that was said by Peter to be required of the repentant souls in Acts 2:38, was the baptism of the Holy Ghost, NOT an immersion in water.
“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. But He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am unworthy to bear: He will batpize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire”. (Matthew 3:11)~
