Lesson 3607

 (Lesson 3607)(11-18-21) Acts 1:16-20

“Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.”

Today’s quote relates the fulfilling of a prophecy and the fate of Judas after he had betrayed Jesus to be crucified on the cross.

The quote also reaffirms that the narrative of the bible is not to be taken as literal in every sense of the word. That fact is obviated by the conflicting narratives concerning the actions of Judas as they appear in the Mattew account and here, then again in today’s account recorded in the book of Acts.

A sincere bible student should keep in mind that there are NO contradictions in the bible as it concerns the intent of God’s Holy word to usward. Keep in mind that we are to study to show ourselves approved. And, we are to “rightly” divide the word of truth.~
