(Lesson 3392)(04-17-21) Luke 9:1-6
“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.”
In today’s lesson, Jesus sent out His twelve apostles to teach their fellow Jews about the coming of the kingdom of God and the new law of grace through faith.
We should make note that they were told to rely totally on their faith for anything they might need, even down to the food they would eat.
How many of us who claim to be the children of God today could survive on our faith alone?
I would wager that the number would be few, if any.
We should also note that the apostles were told to walk away from those who refused the hear their message. That rule still applies to the children of God today, we should NEVER waste our time preaching to those who refuse to be ‘pretch’ to.~
