Lesson 3079

(Lesson 3079)(06-05-2020) Revelation 1:4-6
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

The Revelation of John was written to the “seven churches of Asia”. It was written as a prophecy that was to fortell the things that would occur before Jesus makes His triumphant return. The following is a list of those seven churhces: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. Most, if not all, were churches that had been established by the apostle Paul.
There are some bible scholars of today who contend that the names of those seven churches, as they are referenced in the book of Revelation, are names given to specific dispensations of time or church eras. Since the book is a prophecy, that designation seems fitting to me.
As the quote affirms, the things that are to be learned from the Revelation were handed directly from Jesus to John in dreams, and were to make the world aware of the events that would lead up to Christ’s return.
As Jesus made clear, no one can know the exact hour or day that Jesus will return, but by observing the signs that are evident in this book, we can certainly know when that time is drawing near. The time is short, be prepared. Eternal salvation is free for the asking.~
