Lesson 2711

(Lesson 2711)(05-26-19) Acts 2:1-3
“ And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.”

In today’s quote the prophecy Jesus had made concerning the coming of the Holy Ghost, “the Comforter”, was fulfilled. On that day of the Pentecost celebration, for the first time, the apostles were baptized in the Holy Ghost whereby they received the full power of Jesus Christ as the will of God the Father would dictate.
This text is in contrast with the contention that was made in John 20:21-23 wherein the apostles were said to have received the Holy Ghost. I remain convinced that some of the text in the latter part of the book of John was added to the original by the Roman Catholics. ~
