(Lesson 1638)(04-02-16) Mark 3:13-19
"And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils: And Simon he surnamed Peter; And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder: And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite, And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house."
In today's quote, Jesus, for the first accounted time, assembled all twelve of His chosen apostles in order to teach them the new gospel of salvation by grace through faith, the message they would be sent out to preach. Jesus gave them all power to heal and to cast out devils.
A thorough study of the New Testament reveals that every soul who accepts Jesus Christ as redeemer and savior, inherits that same power. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12-13) ~
