Lesson 4570

 (Lesson 4570)(08-08-24) John 17:6-26 

   “have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evilThey are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” 

 

   In today’s quote, Jesus continued His prayer to the Father, focusing on His disciples and all future believers. He acknowledged that He had revealed the Father's name to the disciples and they have accepted His words, recognizing that everything He has comes from the Father. Jesus prayed for their protection and unity, asking the Father to keep them safe from Satan and to sanctify them in the truth. He expressed His desire that they may be one with He and the Father, so that the world may believe in Him. Jesus also prayed for all future believers who will come to the faith through the work of the disciples' message, asking that they too may be unified and experience the love and glory that He shares with the Father. He concluded His prayer by expressing His desire for all believers to be with Him in heaven and to see His glory, affirming that the Father’s love for Him existed before the foundation of the world. What a wonderful and blessed Savior we serve! ~ 

Lesson 4569

 (Lesson 4569)(08-07-24) John 17:1-5 

   “These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” 

 

   In today’s quote, Jesus prayed to the Father as His crucifixion rapidly approached. He asked God to glorify Him so that He may glorify His Father in return. Jesus emphasized that He had been granted authority over all humanity to give eternal life to those the Father has given to Him. Jesus defined eternal life as knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ the Savior whom He has sent. He reflected on having glorified the Father on earth by completing the work that God had assigned to Him and petitioned the Father to restore Him to the glory they shared before the world existed. ~

Lesson 4568

 (Lesson 4568)(08-06-24) John 16:29-33 

   “His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” 

Today’s quote describes a conversation between Jesus and His disciples. The disciples acknowledged that Jesus was speaking plainly and that they then understood what He was telling them. They expressed their belief that He knows all things and that He came from God. Jesus responded by questioning their belief and foretelling that they will be scattered from Him, but reassures them that He is not truly alone because the Father would always be with Him. He concluded by telling them that they would have peace through Him, even though they would face tribulations in the world, because He had overcome the world. ~ 

Lesson 4567

 (Lesson 4567)(08-05-24) John 16:25-28 

   “These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.” 

 

   In today’s quote, Jesus explained that He had been speaking to His disciples in figurative language, but a time was soon to come when He would speak to them plainly about the Father. He told them that they would pray to the Father in His name, and that the Father would grant their requests because He loved them and they had believed that Jesus came from God. Jesus concluded by affirming that He came from the Father into the world and is now leaving the world to return to the Father. ~
