Lesson 4063

 (Lesson 4063)(03-07-23) Matthew 8:1-4

“ When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.”

In today’s lesson, Jesus healed the leper telling Him to tell no one what had happened, but rather, go to the priest and make an offering as was commanded by the law.

It’s important to note that, at that point, Jesus was teaching that His followers obey the laws of the Jews. Had not yet begun to speak of the way by which mankind could be eternally saved from their sins.~

Lesson 4062

 (Lesson 4062)(03-6-23) Matthew 7:24-29

“ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”

Todays’s quote ends this session of Jesus’ instructions to His people. He also included in this quote the penalty for those who failed to follow His direction.

It is worthy to note that NOT ONCE in the entirety of those instructions did Jesus mention water baptism or any other physical act of mankind.~

Lesson 4061

 (Lesson 4061)(03-5-23) Matthew 7:21-23

“ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Today’s quote is a message that, I believe, was first meant for the Jewish hierarchy of Christ’s day, and then to those who promote all manner of religeous pomp and ritual in today’s “worship.

Sadly, there are many who go to great lengths to impress other sinners with their concocted ceremonies and holier than thou, ritual nonsense. That will get them NOWHERE with God.

As Jesus made perfectly clear in today’s quote, we need not impress anyone with what we do but God Himself. To do that we need ONLY to accept His amazing, saving grace by accepting the shed blood of Jesus as the remitter of all sin. Once and for all.~

Lesson 4060

(Lesson 4060)(03-4-23) Matthew 7:15-20

“ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Today’s quote is a warning. First to the Jews when they were God’s chosen, and now to all the children of God. “Beware of false prophets”. They are indeed EVERYWHERE in today’s “Christianity”.

Lesson 4059

 (Lesson 4059)(03-3-23) Matthew 7:13-14

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

Today’s lesson is, to me, one of the most profoundly under applied instructions, as applied by today’s “Christianity”,  that can be found in the New Testament.

There is just ONE means by which one can attain eternal life, that is through faith in the soul saving blood of Jesus Christ. There are no hoops to jump through such as water baptism or other physical acts preceeding out of the minds of mankind. One’s salvation need not be recogized by anyont but God Himself. It comes by simple and absolute faith in the virgin born life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. Nothing more, or nothing less.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)~

Lesson 4058

 (Lesson 4058)(03-2-23) Matthew 7:12

“ Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

Today’s quote relates the “golden rule”. It still applies to the children of God today, just as it did in the day Jesus spoke to His Jewish brethren.

Actually, Jesus posed it as one of the two “great” commandments; “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love they neighbour as thyself.”

Do these two things and you have obeyed the will of Jesus Christ.~

Lesson 4057

 (Lesson 4057)(03-01-23) Matthew 7:7-11

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

Today’s quote assures those of us who are, by faith, the children of God, that if we ask for ANYTHING, that is within the will of God to give, we WILL receive it.~
