(Lesson 2814)(09-07-19) Romans 6:1-7
“ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.”
Today’s lesson is another confirmation of the security of the believer. Today’s quote confirms that once a lost soul has been immersed into Jesus Christ by faith in Him, that soul has taken on the righteousness of Jesus Christ and therefore is made dead to sin. Being dead to sin, that soul can never again be condemned to die.
Just as Paul said in the quote, once a person is saved by faith in Jesus Christ, that person takes on a totally new reality. He/she will no longer disobey the commandments that were given to us by Jesus Himself. Those commandments were as Jesus stated when He was asked; “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENST HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS”.
The last part of that qoute means that if we obey the two “great” commandments, we have by default obeyed the entire law plus everything that was taught by the prophets.~

Lesson 2813
(Lesson 2813)(09-06-19) Romans 5:14-21
“Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”
In today’s lesson, Paul very clearly explains that, just as Adam’s sin condemned all of mankind to spiritual death, the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ JUSTIFIES the sins of those who believe in Him.
It behooves all of us to learn the difference between having one’s sins forgiven, and having those same sins justified.
To be forgiven is to have an offence reconciled with the person who was offended; However, to be justified is to have the offence totally disappear, or have the offence become a righteous act in the eyes of the offended.
Praise God for His amazing grace.~

Lesson 2812
(Lesson 2812)(09-05-19) Romans 5:12-13
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
In today’s quote, Paul began to explain how sin, and spiritual death because of that sin, came upon all of mankind because of Adam’s failure to obey the one command that God had given him. The command was that Adam not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. With that one act of disobedience Adam condemned himself and all of humanity to die a spiritual death. Spiritual death being a total separation from God for all of eternity.
By that lesson, we learn that sin can ONLY come through disobedience. If God had not told Adam to abstain from eating the forbidden fruit, sin would not have been possible because there would have been no commandment disobey.
That same reasoning applies to the laws that were given to the Jews, (including the ten commandments) had there been no rules to break, no rules would have been broken. No rules, no disobedience.~
NOTE: Today’s lesson is an important part of a much larger one that Paul taught in this letter to the Romans.

(Lesson 2811)(09-04-19) Romans 5:1-11
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
Today’s quote stands totally as it is written and requires no commentary. The words Paul wrote in this quote very clearly confirm the security of the believer. As well, it explains the essence of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This quote should be read over and over by every sincere bible student.

Lesson 2810
(Lesson 2810)(09-03-19) Romans 4:9-25
“Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision (Jews) only, or upon the uncircumcision (Gentiles) also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, (when he was a Jew) or in uncircumcision (as a Gentile)? Not in circumcision (as a Jew), but in uncircumcision (as a Gentile). And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised (a Gentile): that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised (Gentiles); that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: And the father of circumcision (the Jews) to them who are not of the circumcision (Gentiles) only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised (Gentile). For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law (the Jews) be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law (the Jews), but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
In today’s quote, Paul made it clear that salvation by grace, through faith, the ONLY way anyone could ever be saved, was not specific to the Jews. He related that salvation has always been available to the Gentiles through the same means, that is by grace through faith. Salvation DOES NOT now, nor has it EVER been attainable through the laws or commandments that were given to the Jews.
In the last part of the quote Paul explains that the righteousness that is required for salvation is that righteousness that is imputed into those who believe in our Lord Jesus Christ. Speaking of Abraham, Paul said; “Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom It SHALL BE IMPUTED, IF WE BELIEVE ON HIM THAT RAISED UP JESUS OUR LORD FROM THE DEAD; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”~

Lesson 2809
(Lesson 2809)(09-02-19) Romans 4:6-8
“ Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”
As we know from Old Testament study, David was a just like every human since the fall of Adam. He was an adulterer who deceitfully fathered a child by another man’s wife. He was also guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and murder. Yet, just like those of us who are saved today, David’s awful sins were JUSTIFIED by his faith that God would deliver a redeemer for those who believed.
It is very important to note that David did NOTHING to atone for the sins that he had committed, he made no special offerings, he did not repent, nor was he baptized in water. His sins were justified by his faith.
David did, however, pay a horrible price for what he had done because the son that was conceived of his adultery died as a child. (The story of David, as it concerns this lesson, can be found in Second Samuel chapters eleven and twelve.)
The point of this lesson is that, we as mortal human beings, CANNOT, by works, save ourselves. Yet, God in His divine mercy, has given us eteranal salvation, a gift. Because the perfect righteousness of Jesus can be imputed to us through faith in Him.~

Lesson 2808
(Lesson 2808)(09-01-19) Romans 4:4-5
“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
There is ONLY ONE thing that God demands of those who wish to rejoin with Him in heaven. That ONE requirement is total righteousness. Without total righteousness a lost soul CANNOT enter into the kingdom of God.
As Paul made so vividly clear in the lessons of the last few days, and is so clearly established througout the New Testament, the ONLY way to achieve total righteousness is through faith in the virgin born life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ relying upon His righteousness which is imputed into those who believe by faith.
Paul made it clear that one cannot achieve righteousness by obeying the rules of God’s laws to the Jews, nor can one achieve righteousness by simply “being good”. Jesus said, “There is none good but the Father”.
Today’s quote. To me, it is one of the clearest explanations of how faith is the only means by which a lost soul can gain everlasting life.
Anyone who has basic knowledge of God’s word, at all, should already know that eternal salvation CANNOT be earned because it is a gift. Gifts aren’t earned, they are given freely. “For by grace (a gift) are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast”. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
In today’s quote, Paul explained that if one works for a payment then by example, that payment cannot be a gift.
This less can especially be applied to those who believe that water baptism is a requirement for eternal salvation. That is because, in order to be baptized in water one must physically take part, making water baptism, again by example, a “work”. Salvation is, “NOT OF WORKS”.~
